I remember when I first watched the film called The Matrix, which told of another world where people thought was real, where people went about their daily lives, unknowing that in the actual world, humanity was enslaved and made batteries, living in a communal dream of a prosthetic reality called The Matrix.

Our real world has much similiarities with the fictional one portrayed in the film. Not in the literal sense. No, we aren't controlled by robot overlords and there aren't cool resistance factions that run in garbed in vinyl shooting semi autos. The similiarities end at all the fakeness.

But falseness in our world comes in a less physical sense. If you can't picture that, too bad. I don't blame stupidity. You can't blame anyone for the existence of roaches (well actually you can *looks up*) you just have to live with them.

Back to the unrealness : have you noticed everything fake in our world? Fake smiles. Smiles just for others to see. Fake personalities. Untrue selves just to impress others. Fake accents, fake clothes. Everything. Untrue. Hell, if you want to thread into the physical aspect, there's fake cash like credit cards, fake imitation goods, piracy which is essentially creating fake products.

Then you might say, "But Samuel, are you having elephants in your head? THAT IS OUR LIFE. We live like that. You are just ranting and bitching you shithead."

See, you are being fake. How ironical. Whenever I get into the topic of discussing The Matrix with anyone, I try to ask them, what if one day you really had a choice, would you go back to a normal life where you know is not real, or would you rather crawl around in the sewers of ugly reality. Many, if not all, took the earlier option.

Of course then you might say again, "But Samuel do you not understand the sick harmony of society? To pull the strings correctly you have to be like this, being yourself only shows your idiocy and everything bad about you. Plus the real world is different from the reel world, we aren't slaves to robots you Matrix fanboy."

Rah-rah. Sure, let's see, support your hypocrital mistake with an even more hypocrital argument. Logical, indeed. You know why people can't be themselves? Here's a simple fact: studies have shown that the average individual is no more interesting than a speck of dust.

Now how do we make the dust more interesting? By adding layers and layers of fakeness of course! WOW why haven't I thought about that?! Let's dye its hair. Let's buy it some new clothes. Let's make him create a fake joyful personality! WE'RE ON A ROLL.

It's pretty sad when you think about it. Oh wow, look there's another group talking really loudly in a public area. Wait, it seems they are talking about a joke. Yeah the volume seems deliberate. Maybe they are trying to reassure themselves that the joke is funny and they actually are vaguely interesting by testing to see if the ENTIRE PUBLIC WILL LAUGH TOGETHER WITH THEM. Or maybe they feel that they are slipping too much into normality, too...same, and must stand above the crowd for attention. Maybe it makes them feel special. Unique. One-of-a-kind.

Oh my god, you are so special! You are wearing a shirt that 20000000 other people are wearing. You have the same hairstyle and color as 4000000 other people on this planet. ABSOLUTELY UNIQUE.

Lovely. Be the epitome of the urban consumer. Fashion. Attention. Fake love from boy/girl friends who are together with you for more attention. All check. Hurray, you completed your Christmas list. Congratulations, I hope you die soon enough.
The Matrix has you.

Very intresting. I guess no one is more hoplessly enslaved than he who believes he is free.
